Do you really think your smic's have more volume than a FMIC? I'll go along with it tho and just say this. Surface area is mroe important than volume. The last half of the intercooler only does 1/4 of the work.

FMIC's have my surface area, and volume. The sheer mass of it acts as a heat sink.

Calculate the area of the cross section of air going thru your side moutn ducts in your bumper. Then calculate the cross sectional area of a fmic.

With all of that said, go take some charge temp readings from a fmic car, then take some from a smic. I promise you there will be a significant difference ;)

If you could increase the size of the smic ducts in the bumper, it wouldnt be such a bad thing.
